Welcome to Room 10!
Two years ago we were asked to keep a blog for our classroom... a "teacher blog." I had no idea what I was supposed to write about in here. Often, I would copy paste the newsletters I spent time writing every Monday. Needless to say, my blog was quite boring and after the school year was over, I deleted everything I had written... or "pasted" into my blog.
I'm not quite sure why I had a difficult time keeping up with my blog, after all I had been blogging since my junior year of high school. That blog began to fade away as I entered the end of my college days.
My first son was born in June of 2010, and in August 2010 I started blogging again on blogger. As a mother of two young boys- blogging is very important to me. Moments happen everyday that I want to remember. Blogging is also important to me because I get to share my childrens' lives with their family and friends who don't get to see them all the time.
... and that brings me to this blog... my "teacher blog." As a teacher, it is my job to not only educate, but to also take care of 26 children during school hours. My goal this year is to keep parents up to date about what's happening in their child's classroom- not to remind you of spelling words or what is included in their homework packet, but to give you a glimpse of what your child is doing inside of our classroom.
As working parents, I know a lot of you may work 8am-5pm every day and I may not ever meet you.. so here's the working mom and dads chance to see how our classroom operates and what your child is doing while you're away!
Here's a tour of our classroom.
My mom wanted me to take a picture of my brand new curtains because she made them for me and has not seen the finished product.
Like all elementary classrooms (hopefully) we have a reading corner. Your child will spend a lot of time in the reading corner. We love books in our classroom!
In our reading corner your child is greeted by some furry friends who help them remember why it's so important to read books.
Here is another special corner in our classroom- our calendar! Your children love taking turns everyday doing the calendar.. we talk about the months of the year, days of the week, today's date, the season, and current weather.
Our writing wall will be updated every month (sometimes more) with their writing. Please come in and check out your child's writing.. if you're not sure which one is theres just ask! On the last day of school we will be making writing books to take home and cherish forever.

Every teacher has a certain subject that they enjoy teaching the most.. If you can tell by the two posters on the right- I love parts of speech! By the end of the year, your child will be a pro at naming nouns, verbs, pronouns.. etc.

I hope you enjoyed a look into your child's classroom. I'm going to try my best to keep parents updated.. if I forget to write in here- just remind me :)
